Lilly-Emma Thynne

I’m the Founder and Director of Trans+ Health Research UK C.I.C., a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to co-creating meaningful, publishable research with and for the trans+ community. We connect trans+ people, healthcare professionals, and researchers to shape studies that reflect lived experience, challenge inequality, and transform care.

My work is grounded in both academic rigour and community insight. I hold a BA (Politics) and PGCE (Geography), and I’m currently completing an MSc in Clinical Research at Lancaster University, where I’ll begin my PhD in Medicine in October 2025.

My MSc dissertation study engaged over 420 trans+ adults in England — one of the most representative studies of its kind — and inspired the creation of the CIC. I currently serve as Co-Lead (Coordinator) of the national Gender Incongruence in Adults (non-surgical) Priority Setting Partnership, which I first proposed in 2024.

Previously, I spent five years working in education, with roles including Deputy Safeguarding Lead and Technology in Teaching and Learning Lead.

I'm autistic, queer, and trans — and I bring my whole self into the work I do.
