What can I do to personally to fight anti trans views and sentiment in the U.K.

1. Educate yourself and others

  • Learn about transgender issues, terminology, and lived experiences from reliable UK-based resources and trans-led organisations.

  • Share educational materials and facts about trans rights, UK law, and NHS healthcare with friends, family, and your wider community.

  • Gently correct misinformation and challenge stereotypes in everyday conversations and online

2. Support and Amplify Trans voices

  • Follow and promote trans activists, charities, and information sources such as TransActual UK, Gendered Intelligence, and TransLeeds.

  • Share content from trans people and organisations to help amplify their voices, especially when mainstream media excludes them

3. Take political and civic action (safely)

  • Write to your MP and local councillors about trans rights issues, urging them to stand against anti-trans policy and rhetoric.

  • Go to an MP surgery and state your views about how legislation is creating health and rights inequalities for our community

  • Engage regularly with your political representatives to build relationships and keep trans issues on their agenda.

  • Join or get involved in political parties or trade unions advocating for trans inclusion and equality

  • Become govenors of public trusts and school boards

  • Join professional bodies and trade organisations

4. Challenge Discrimination and Transphobia

  • Call out transphobia, whether witnessed in the media, at work, on social media, or in your community.

  • Encourage workplaces, schools, and organisations to adopt inclusive policies and non-binary-inclusive forms.

  • Support training and awareness sessions on trans inclusion

5. Join and Support Protests and Events (safely)

  • Attend peaceful protests, rallies, and Trans Pride events around the UK, following all safety guidance.

  • Consider volunteering at events or with trans support groups

6. Donate and Fundraise

  • Support trans-led organisations financially or through fundraising efforts. Funds help sustain vital services and campaigns fighting for trans rights

  • Volunteer and offer your time and expertise to trans charities

  • Find a local charity or something like the Good Law Project

7. Build Inclusive Communities

  • Create or support safe spaces for trans people in your local area, including social groups, support circles, and community events.

  • Promote trans-inclusive practices in local clubs, venues, schools, or places of worship.

  • Look for online resources to help you get your message out.

8. Advocate in your Workplace

  • Encourage your employer or colleagues to review and improve workplace policies around diversity, equality, and harassment.

  • Advocate for better trans inclusion, support, and representation at work

9. Use your Platform

  • If you have a public platform, use it to speak out against anti-trans policies and sentiment, and to promote trans equality.

  • Share petitions and statements supporting trans rights reforms and protection

10. Stand in Solidarity

  • Listen to trans people and stand beside them when they experience discrimination or hostility.

  • Attend support groups or offer emotional support to friends and colleagues when needed.

Taking these steps—individually and collectively—can help create a more welcoming and equal society for trans people in the UK
